Representatives from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Student Money Management Center propose the formation of a statewide association of collegiate financial education professionals.
The Texas Association of Collegiate Financial Education Professionals (TACFEP) is formed. There are 13 founding members. The association’s website (tacfep.com) is created and launched. The association hosts its first statewide programming summit. SHSU hosts the association’s inaugural annual statewide symposium.
The inaugural Board of Directors is formed. Rachel Grimes with the University of North Texas Student Money Management Center is nominated as the association’s first Board President.
Annual membership dues structure is established (33 members). TACFEP is invited to present before the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
5TH Anniversary! TACFEP Board President selected as a THECB 60x30TX Data Fellow. TACFEP board member appointed to THECB's Financial Literacy Advisory Council. For the first time the annual statewide symposium is co-hosted by three member organizations. Symposium student scholarship program is established.
Several TACFEP Board Members are selected to serve on THECB's Financial Wellness Learning Collaborative. TACFEP invited to present at the 2019 Texas Financial Literacy Summit, which is co-sponsored by the Texas Bankers Association, Independent Bankers Association, and Texas Jump$tart. TACFEP invited to present inaugural financial wellness track at the national Student Financial Services Conference. TACFEP president invited to be a panelist at the Federal Student Aid Training Conference.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, membership dues are temporarily suspended. Free membership is offered to aid members facing financial and institutional challenges (114 members). Annual symposium and planning summit transitioned online.
